Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The papers of Dr. Philip Schaff (1819-1893) have been a part of the holdings of the Evangelical and Reformed Historical Society from the time they were donated over a period of years by Schaff's son, Dr. David Schley Schaff before his death in 1943 and by his granddaughter, Miss Mary Schaff, through the 1960's. The papers were originally classified and scattered through the collection. In 2005 they were reprocessed and brought together as a single manuscript collection, including the items from the Philip Schaff Library, Lancaster Theological Seminary, by Rev. Richard R. Berg, ERHS Archivist and Director of Library Services, Lancaster Theological Seminary.
