Biographical / Historical

Founded in 1739 by a Scottish-Irish congregation, this church was shared by Presbyterian, Lutheran and Reformed congregations. In the early 1800's the Presbyterians left the Union Church. The Reformed Lutheran union continued until both congregations were dissolved in 1923. The building stood vacant until 1959, when it began to be used for special services and events. In 1976 St. Luke's UCC left the Union Church in Ferndale and moved to the Red Church.
