Biographical / Historical

This congregation was the union of the Congregational Christian Church and the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Levittown New Jersey. Rev. Gerald Kummer was the organizing minister in the beginning of 1960. It was considered to be a "pioneering first" in protestant unification and received widespread publicity in Philadelphia and New York. In 1961, Rev. Alfred Wycoff succeeded Rev. Kummer. A church building site was donated by Levitt and Sons, Inc. at the intersection of Beverly Road and Pageant Lane in the Pennypacker Park area. Until the church was constructed, services were held in Pennypacker Elementary School. Other notable leaders were: John Collins, Chairman of the Board of Deacons; Robert Kerr. Superintendent of Sunday School; and Mrs. Siegfried Boysen Jr., President of the Women's Fellowship.
