Biographical / Historical

This church began around 1782 as a German Evangelical Protestant Church with both Reformed & Lutheran congregations. They officially formed a Union in 1812. The Lutherans broke away in 1837, and many of the Reformed left to form Grace Reformed Church. In 1924 the congregation voted to affiliate with the National Council of Congregational Churches. Over the years other affiliated denominations included the Slavonic Congregational Church and the Methodist Church. As an independent protestant church the pastors represented various denominations.
