Biographical / Historical

This congregation was formed from the members of Ascension Reformed Church who desired a less liturgical form of worship. In June 1872, Rev. Daniel Feete began holding weekly services and the congregation of the Second Reformed Church was formalized. A congregational meeting held January 11, 1876, resulted in an agreement to purchase land on which to build a formal church building. Funds were raised and the church was dedicated August 20, 1876. It was in 1876 that the name "Trinity" was decided upon and elected. The incorporation date is December 17, 1883. In 1892, authorization for the purchase of a lot at Elm and Sweded streets was made for the eventual erection of larger facilities. The original church building (at Marshall and Cherry Sts.) was sold to the United Evangelical Mission. The dedication of the new church building was held February 21, 1897. In the year 1905, the congregation purchased a home to be used as the parsonage. In 1911, the church was too small to hold the growing congregation, and a resolution was presented calling for the erection of the present sanctuary and hall. The service of dedication was held March 9, 1913. Trinity dissolved in 1994. Pastors included: 1872-1874 Daniel Feete 1874-1877 Joseph H. Hunsberger 1877-1882 A. B. Stoner 1883-1886 William C.
