Biographical / Historical
The Host Church congregation is the oldest Reformed congregation west of the Schuylkill River, having been founded in the year 1727 by the Rev. John Phillip Boehm. In 1736 the Reformed built a log church named after the Host family that was living there at that time. In 1775 a stone church was built at the location where the church stands today. Complete records in German and English regarding the history of the church and congregation have been preserved. A copy of the Indenture of Trust and Deed for the first purchase of land, witnessed and signed by Conrad Weiser and Samuel Weiser are displayed inside the church sanctuary.
