Biographical / Historical
Dunkel's Church began as a Reformed Church in1744 and later became a union church. Grimville began as a Lutheran Church in 1761 and was called Bethel. In 1803 a new building was erected and the name was changed to New Bethel Zion. In 1788 the Reformed people were given permission to hold services in the building and to bury their dead in the adjoining graveyard but not until 1844 did the Grimville Church formally become a union church. Meetings for dissolution of both churches began as early as 1965 and culminated in May, 1970 with the signing of the Articles of Agreement.
