Biographical / Historical

The German Reformed congregation was organized in 1748 by Rev. Michael Schlatter, pastor of Reformed Churches in Philadelphia and Germantown. John Allison, founder of Greencastle, issued a deed to the representatives of the German Reformed Congregation of Greencastle in 1786. In 1808, this church was referred to as Zion Church.During the pastorate of John Rebaugh, use of the German language was eliminated.
