Biographical / Historical
First Reformed Church was established in Tiffin, Ohio in 1833. The church building was completed under the 4th pastor of the church in 1847. In the spring of 1882, a conflict over pastors led to some members leaving First Reformed and forming Grace Reformed Church. In 1913, there was a great flood, resulting in much damage to both churches. This led to discussion of a merger between the two churches. However, a congregational vote in November 1916 had enough negative votes that the merger did not occur. In 1924, consistories met again with a 97% merger agreement from the congregants. Merger services were held June 7, 1925 and Trinity Reformed Church of Tiffin was born. A new building was constructed and dedicated May 12, 1929.
