Biographical / Historical
This church began as St. Peter's Union Church in Rittersville, PA. In 1913 the Union was dissolved and St. Peter's Reformed Church was formed in Allentown. In 1842 a meeting was held to discuss the building of a church. A committee of the following was appointed: Jacob Bast, Michael Ritter and Solomon Flores. They found a suitable tract of land for a church and cemetery located on the property of the Michael Ritter estate. Mr. Ritter withdrew from the committee and was replaced by Samuel Knaus. New committees were formed to secure subscriptions for a building fund and to select a contractor. The original pastors Rev. Joshua Yeager, Lutheran, and Rev. Joseph. S. Dubbs Reformed received a salary of $40.00 per year until 1856. the dedication of the church was August 27 and 28, 1942. The church continued as St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran snd Reformed Church until 1903 revisions were made to the Rules and Regulations of the "St. Peter's Union Church" of Rittersville. PA. In 1913 the Union was dissolved and St. Peter's Reformed Church was formed in Allentown (formerly Rittersville, PA) Pastors who have served include: 1842-1856 Joseph S.
