Biographical / Historical
The Sulphur Springs Charge, originally called the Brokensword Charge, was organized on September 29, 1873 and consisted of 4 Churches: 1. Chatfield Reformed Church - Chatfield, OH then called Richville 2. Salem Reformed Church, aka Union Church - Upper Brokensword, OH (northeast of Sulphur Springs) 3. Hope Reformed Church, aka Yeiter Church - Lower Brokensword, OH (northwest of Sulphur Springs). This was originally Old Hope Church, which disbanded in 1890, reformed as New Hope Church in Sulphur Springs March 5, 1890, and became part of the charge. 4. Grace Reformed Church - Brokensword (Wingert's Corners or Portersville), OH.
