Biographical / Historical
St. John's Reformed Church was organized in 1809 when they built a log church with the Lutheran congregation near the old cemetery at the eastern end of Ord Street. In 1853 they built a brick church at a new location and it was dedicated as St. John's. In 1888 the Reformed bought out the Lutherans, who had already moved to a new building on Union Street. St. John's Reformed built another new church in 1895. The church sustained heavy damage during a tornado in 1998, as did the parsonage and the homes of many members.
