Biographical / Historical

Built in 1905 at 7th St. and 66th Ave.as the Reformed church of Oak Lane. In 1934 it became the Evangelical and Reformed Church of Oak Lane. The first pastor, Abner Stauffer DeChant was followed in 1928 by his son Clement Wieser DeChant who served for 19 years. Feb. 20, 1972 Oak Lane Baptist Church agreed to share facilities with the Oak Lane UCC until 1984 when it dissolved. New Horizons Baptist Church started sharing the facilities in 1986. Three of the stained glass windows were by Nicolo D'Ascenzo and Five by George W. Sotter and one imported from a chapel in Wales. Pastors: Rev. Abner S. DeChant 1902-1910 Rev.
