Biographical / Historical

Theodore Clarence Brown was born at Summit Station, Pennsylvania on October 30, 1880, the son of Franklin and Mary Brown. He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 1905 and from Lancaster Seminary in 1908. Licensed on May 25, 1908 by Schuylkill Classis, Eastern Synod, he was ordained June 14, 1908 by Tohickon Classis. His ministry began where he was ordained, at New Jerusalem Church in Bethlehem, PA. in 1908. He was the first pastor of the Fountain Hill Charge which consisted of three churches: Grace Church, Jerusalem Church and New Jerusalem Church. He served there until his death on April 22, 1949. During his ministry he had served as Stated Clerk of Tohickon Classis, and later became the first Secretary of East Pennsylvania Synod. He was married to Mary Aulenbach and they were the parents of one daughter and five sons.
