Biographical / Historical
James Miles Walthour was born December 23, 1919 in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, PA, the son of James F. and Lucinda (Baum) Walthour. He graduated from Heidelberg College in 1942 and Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1945. He was pastor of Shenango Charge, which included Jerusalem Church, Greenville and St. John's Church, Fredonia, from 1945 until his retirement in 1984. He also served in many capacities in the Penn West Conference and the Lake Erie Association, and was Mayor of Fredonia from 1985 to 1995. On March 25, 1945 he married the former Julia L. Carr of Lancaster, PA. They had three daughters: Pamela, Carol and Vicki. Rev. Walthour died February 18. 2010 in Fredonia.
