Biographical / Historical

The Blowing Rock Assembly Grounds are the former property of a Charleston, SC lawyer named Hughes. Southern Synod of the E&R Church bought the 75-acre Hughes estate in 1945 for $16,500. It was incorporated in 1950. In 2003 it became Blowing Rock Conference Center with a new mission as an ecumenical center.
